Art Lover - Styled Habitat

Art Lover

STYLED HABITAT was originally brought on to make some minimal design updates to family room to this stunning 10,000 sq. m. custom villa. As time went by the project grew into a complete refurbishment of the three-level Emirates Hills villa. The villa had amazing bones, filled with large open rooms with vast windows. Which was the perfect backdrop for a modern-day art collector clients.

The design goals were to keep most of client custom furnishing but update the upholstery. Carefully selected furniture pieces and light fixtures were curated to confidently blend traditional pieces into a decidedly modern space to achieve a subtle sophistication. Custom rugs, millwork, hardware, and lighting details create an elevated space and distinct sense of quality.

The clean, natural palette of varying undertones of soft taupe and creamy whites is more versatile backdrop for layering on color both subtle and bold. The jolts of energy were delivered by the modern art on the walls. By adding touches of color through art, sculptures, and books rather than wallpaper or bold fabric patterns allows the art to float so it really stands out and add much needed excitement to the room while accentuating the airy feel of the light-filled space. This look proves you don’t need bold hues to make a gorgeous statement.

It was important to flood this space with as much light as possible. The widow treatments are light and ethereal allowing as much light as possible. The extra-wide entryway sets the tone for the rest of the style of the house. I love it when people walk in a space, their eye travels around to take in all the different art and memories in photos that the client collected over time and special to the family. It makes the space feel interesting and well loved.
